Strasbourg → Kehl · Cross-border ride
It is roughly 8 km from central Strasbourg to Kehl, almost entirely on protected cycle paths, and you cross the Rhine on the Passerelle des Deux Rives — a bridge for people on foot and on bikes only. Allow 30 to 45 minutes each way, less on an electric bike. There are no border formalities: you ride from France into Germany without stopping.
From the shop, head east through the centre and pick up the canal path towards the port, then follow signs for the Jardin des Deux Rives. The last stretch runs through the park to the Passerelle des Deux Rives, the white arched footbridge that lands you in Germany.
On the far side, Kehl's centre is a flat ten minutes: the Marktplatz, the Rhine promenade, and a garden path back along the water if you want a different return.
Cheaper shopping and German supermarkets, the Sunday-quiet Rhine promenade, and the simple pleasure of riding between two countries in an afternoon. It is the single most popular half-day ride our customers ask about.
If you want to go further, the EuroVelo 15 Rhine route runs north and south from Kehl along the river — pick up the 24-hour rate rather than the half day and make a full day of it.
