How much does it cost to rent an electric bike in Strasbourg?
At VeloRouge an electric bike is €29 for a half day of 8 hours and €39 for 24 hours. Longer formulas are €75 for 2 days, €89 for 3 days and €145 for 7 days. The Cool Cargo e-bike for two is €59 for 4 hours. Helmet, lock and route map are included in every price.
Do I need a licence or insurance to ride an e-bike?
No. These are pedal-assisted bikes limited to 25 km/h, which French law treats as ordinary bicycles: no licence, no registration and no insurance requirement. A helmet is included with every rental and is compulsory by law for riders under 12.
How far can I go on one battery?
It depends on the assistance level, the wind and how much you pedal, so we will not quote you a number you cannot rely on. Every bike leaves charged, the full-day formula includes a charger, and the 2, 3 and 7-day formulas include a spare battery — so a day around Strasbourg and out to the vineyards is comfortable.
Can I pick the bike up at any time of day?
Yes, at any hour the shop is open: Monday to Friday 09:30–18:30 and Saturday to Sunday 10:00–19:00. You choose your pick-up time when you book online.
Can I cancel if the weather turns?
Yes — cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pick-up and you are refunded in full. If rain is forecast on the day, come anyway: we hand out ponchos.
Is an electric bike better than a classic one for Strasbourg?
For the Grande Île, Petite France and the parks, a classic city bike at €18 for 8 hours is plenty — the centre is flat. Take the electric one if you want to leave the city for the vineyards, the Rhine or the Alsace villages, or if you simply want a longer day without the effort.
