How much does it cost to rent a bike in Strasbourg?
Rentals start at €18 for a classic city bike for 8 hours. E-bikes start at €29 for a half day of a full 8 hours, 9:30am to 6:30pm — most other Strasbourg rentals charge more than that for only 4 or 6 hours. A full day is €39, two days €75, three days €89 and a week €145. The 4-hour cruise-stopover rental is €59. All prices are per bike and include the helmet, lock and route map.
How do I book a bike?
Booking runs online through our Bókun booking system: tap Book Now on any rate card, pick your rental length and date, and you are confirmed instantly. Every rental — including the Vélo Classique 8 Hrs (experience #1272910) — is bookable online. Prefer to talk first? Call +33 6 30 77 09 94 and we will hold a bike for you.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Yes. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your rental starts and you are refunded in full. You can also reserve now and pay later if your plans are still flexible.
Do you rent to groups?
Yes — simply book several bikes for the same date and time. The cargo e-bike carries a maximum of 2 people per bike. For larger groups, call us and we will plan the fleet with you.
Pick-up & opening hours
Where do I pick up the bike?
At VéloRouge, 4 Rue du Faubourg-de-Saverne, 67000 Strasbourg — a few minutes' walk from the station and from Petite France. Bikes can be started and returned at either of our two Strasbourg locations; the exact meeting point is confirmed when you book.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday 09:30–18:30, Saturday and Sunday 10:00–19:00.
Can I rent a bike straight off a river cruise?
Yes. The 4-hour cruise-stopover rental at €59 is built for exactly that: enough time to ride the city centre, the Ill canals and Petite France and be back at the boat.
Riding the bikes
Do I need cycling experience?
No. The electric assistance flattens every incline, so if you can ride an ordinary bicycle — even if it has been years — you will be comfortable within minutes.
How far does the battery go on one charge?
Every bike leaves the shop fully charged, which comfortably covers a day of city riding plus the vineyards or the Rhine forests beyond Strasbourg. If you plan a long day, tell us and we will brief you on the assistance levels that stretch the range.
Is it a guided tour?
No, our rentals are self-guided. You get the bike, helmet, lock and map, and we can point you to a curated Komoot collection — the Cultural Circuit, canal loops, vineyards and forests — if you would like a ready-made route.
What is included with the rental?
A fully-charged e-bike, a helmet, a lock, a route map and a direct emergency number for the duration of your ride. For full-day rentals we include a charger; 2-day, 3-day and 7-day rentals also include a spare battery.
Can I take the e-bike on a long ride or multi-day trip?
Yes. For full-day rentals we include a charger, and 2-day, 3-day and 7-day rentals include a spare battery as well. That makes the Rhine forests, vineyards and the ride to Colmar perfectly feasible.
What if the bike breaks down?
Call +33 6 30 77 09 94. Every rental includes that direct line, so help is always one call away while you are out riding.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes — the rental is pet friendly, and the cargo e-bike is the comfortable option for carrying a dog through the city.
Can I ride into Germany?
Yes. Kehl sits directly across the Rhine from Strasbourg and is reachable on a continuous cycle path via the Passerelle des Deux Rives — an easy return ride on an assisted bike.

Do you sell cargo bikes as well as rent them?
Yes. VéloRouge presents the minica family eCargo tricycle, currently open for pre-booking at €3,999 instead of €4,999. It has a dual-motor drive, 60–80 km of range and six box finishes.
Can I see a minica before ordering?
Yes — come to the shop at 4 Rue du Faubourg-de-Saverne during opening hours, or call ahead on +33 6 30 77 09 94 so we have one ready for you to look at.
Deposit, ID, age & kids
Is there a deposit?
A €99 deposit applies to rentals longer than one day. It is taken as a hold on your card, not a debit, and is released when the bike comes back.
What do I need to bring to pick up the bike?
An original ID document. We take a copy of it for the rental record, as required for every bike we hand over.
What is the minimum age to rent?
We rent from 16 years old. Minors can ride when they are accompanied by a parent, who signs for the rental.
Do you have child seats?
Yes. We fit child seats on the rear rack of our e-bikes for younger children — tell us when you book so the bike is ready with the seat mounted.
Which routes do you recommend around Strasbourg?
