Wine Harvest Ride — Strasbourg to Obernai

approx. 40 km · Moderate

Our seasonal ride for harvest time: flat towpath out of Strasbourg along the Canal de la Bruche to Molsheim, then the first slopes of the Route des Vins through Rosheim, Boersch and Ottrott before dropping into Obernai. About 40 km one way, train back. No GPS track for this one — it follows signed canal path and wine-route roads, and the villages are signposted the whole way.

Why nowRide it now: the 2026 harvest started about three weeks earlier than usual, and the later grapes — Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling — are still being picked into early October. Expect pickers in the rows, tractors of grapes on the lanes and villages that smell of must.
